Build Your Watch Classes

Have you ever wanted to create a timepiece that is truly unique to you? We are offering an opportunity to do just that, under the guidance of a trained watchmaker.

Prior experience with watches is not absolutely necessary, and we will supply the tools and materials for you to get a taste of what being a watchmaker is about!

 

 

 

Course #1: Manual wind watch movement

No prior watch experience is needed, and we will supply the tools and materials to put together your watch. This is a great choice for a new watch enthusiast!

What’s included in the course:

  • Manual wind watch movement (ST36*)

  • Stainless steel watch case with exhibition back (42-44 mm case, not including the crown)

  • Watch dial

  • Watch hands

  • Watch band (leather strap)

  • 8-10 hours of instruction wherein you will disassemble, clean, oil, reassemble and adjust your timepiece, as well as make the case look exactly how you want.

*Swiss movements have increased in price to the point where we cannot offer the use of the ETA or Unitas movements if we are to continue to make this class affordable. We will instead be using the ST36 Chinese movement.

The class will be held for 2 consecutive weeks, with one, 4 -5 hour course per week. The total fee for the course is $500, and non-refundable prepayment is required.

Course #2: Automatic movement

No prior watch experience is absolutely necessary, however, some familiarity is a really good idea. Manual dexterity and patience is a must. We will supply the tools and materials to put together your watch. This is a great choice for a watch enthusiast who would love a bit of a challenge and has tinkered around with watches before!
 

What’s included in the course:

  • Automatic watch movement - ST2130 (ETA 2824 clone) or Seiko NH35

  • Stainless steel watch case (38-44 mm case, not including the crown)

  • Watch dial

  • Watch hands

  • Watch band (leather strap)

  • 8-10 hours of instruction wherein you will disassemble, clean, oil, reassemble and adjust your timepiece, as well as make the case look how you want.

The class will be held for 2 consecutive weeks, with one, 4 -5 hour course per week. The total fee for the course is $650, and non-refundable prepayment is required.

Course #3: Chronograph movement

This is a great choice for a watch enthusiast who would love a serious challenge. While it is not absolutely necessary for participants to have prior watch experience, it's suggested to possess at least some experience. Manual dexterity and patience is a must. We will supply the tools and materials to put together your watch.
 

What’s included in the course:

  • Automatic chronograph watch movement - Shanghai 3LXF2 (Valjoux 7750 clone)

  • Stainless steel watch case

  • Watch dial

  • Watch hands

  • Watch band

  • 12-15 hours of instruction wherein you will disassemble, clean, oil, reassemble and adjust your timepiece.

The class will be held for 2 consecutive weeks, with one, 6+ hour course per week. The total fee for the course is $850, and non-refundable prepayment is required.

Course #4: Modding and Customization

Do you have a watch you want to change up? A new bezel insert, crystal, dial, hands? How about heat-treating the case, or using an epoxy paint to color it? Ceramic e-coating or plating? We will supply the tools and know-how to mod your watch, while you will supply the parts you want to use to make your watch truly yours.
 

What’s included in the course:

  • Access to professional-grade tools

  • Help with common modding issues

  • Guided help with completing your mods

The class will be held for 3 hours on various days of the month, and will cover a variety of topics. If you have a particular topic you'd like to cover, please let us know, and we'll see if we can accommodate you! Prices for the classes do vary, but the non-refundable nature of the fees do not.
